Mount Auburn Hospital (MAH) is a regional teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, located near Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. MAH operates 203 beds, and offers a full spectrum of clinical services including med/surg, intensive care, inpatient geriatric psychiatry, and a full range of surgical services including Cardiac surgery and Bariatric surgery. Our Emergency Department and Walk-in Center serve more than 50,000 patients each year. Specialty services include Obstetrics and Level II neonatology with physician and midwifery deliveries of over 2,000 newborns annually. MAH also provides a broad spectrum of oncology services and is approved by the American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Cancer Management Center (CCMC).

The board certified medical staff of more than 850 physicians care for approximately 19,000 inpatients and more than 500,000 outpatients annually in 25 locations throughout the metropolitan Boston area.

MAH is known for its focus on compassionate care in a personalized setting with high academic and quality standards. Our educational mission is on parallel with our missions around safety and excellence in clinical care. Mount Auburn sponsors teaching programs in medicine, radiology, rotations for ACGME residents in surgery and emergency medicine, as well as a novel podiatry residency program and a fellowship in urogynecology. MAH also provides clinical training for a diverse set of allied health providers through arrangements with area professional colleges.

Mount Auburn Hospital’s commitment to quality and patient safety has led to wide recognition and awards. Our award-winning cardiology and cardiac surgical services care for patients from throughout New England. The Hospital has been recognized as a Top 100 Hospital for Cardiovascular Care and Intensive Care. As one of the first organizations to adopt the Alternative Quality Contract, we have partnered with our physician IPA to become a national leader in performance based contracting and professional services. We are the recipient of the AHA Gold Stroke Award, the 2006: "Excellence in Patient Safety" Award from the Massachusetts Hospital Association, and the 2009 award for Blue Cross Blue Shield "Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care".
