Current Opportunities: Description:

Position on a research project supported by a 5-year National Institute of Mental Health research grant. Research assistants conduct child and family evaluations; score, enter and analyze data; and assist in various tasks part of the project's daily operations. Research assistants work closely with research coordinator. This position offers the possiblility of participating in the project's publication process and be part of the writing team (per PI's invitation).

Evaluations include testing (extensive child language assessment in both Spanish and English; cognitive and achievement testing), diagnostic psychiatric interviews, and administration of questionnaires/surveys (for emotional/behavioral problems, and sociodemographic, acculturation, immigration and other risk factors and variables). Training will be provided.

This position is ideal for someone who is highly motivated and an independent worker; strongly interested in research and possibly empirical publications (data available now)and is looking for experience in developmental language and psychological/psychiatric research.

Requirements:
  • Enrolled in program for or obtained advance degree in: psychology, speech pathology, child development, child language acquisition or related field.
  • One-year commitment minimum.
  • Minimum 16 hours per week. Schedule is negotiable.
  • Excellent computer skills.
Preferred but not required:
  • Experience with test administration (psychological, language), or in psychiatric, developmental and/or language research.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software
  • Spanish/English bilingual, native Spanish speaker preferred.
