Volunteer Spanish Speaking Research Assistant
Description:
We are currently interviewing for the position of Volunteer Spanish Speaking Research Assistant. This position involves conducting research interviews in Spanish (diagnostic psychiatric interviews, questionnaires/surveys for emotional/behavioral problems, and sociodemographic, acculturation, immigration). Position includes conducting bilingual language assessment of children of immigrants. Training will be provided.
Position on a research project supported by a 5-year National Institute of Mental Health research grant. Research assistants conduct child and family evaluations; score, enter and analyze data; and assist in various tasks part of the project's daily operations. Research assistants work closely with research coordinator.
This position is ideal for someone who is interested in gaining research skills and experience working with bilingual minorites. Should be strongly interested in developmental language and psychological/psychiatric research.
Requirements:
- One-year commitment minimum.
- Minimum 16 hours per week, (or full time for minimum 3 months) Schedule is generally flexible.
- Spanish/English bilingual, native Spanish speaker preferred.
- Excellent computer skills.
Preferred but not required:
- Experience with test administration (psychological, language), or in psychiatric, developmental and/or language research.
- Experience with statistical analysis software
