Mission Statement

The HEART MD–PhD Summer Program is a student–led, fully–funded initiative that aims to create equitable opportunities for accessing physician–scientist career paths, from the biomedical to the social sciences. We will connect undergraduate students from underrepresented and/or disadvantaged backgrounds—broadly defined—with mentorship, research experience, clinical exposure, professional development, and community. We will equip graduates of this program with the values and skills of research competence, compassion, curiosity, and leadership necessary for the MD–PhD application process, physician–scientist training, and the diversity of careers.
