William Randolph Hearst Fund

The William Randolph Hearst Fund has been established at Harvard Medical School in honor and recognition of the efforts and devotion of Isabelle and Leonard Goldenson and Ethel and Jack Hausman on behalf of handicapped children.

Next Deadline May 9, 2008 at 5pm
Funding Top two ranking awards receive $80,000 over two years beginning July 1st. Remaining awards receive $40,000 for one year beginning July 1st.
Eligiblity Eligibility is restricted to Research Fellows, Clinical Fellows and Instructors appointed within the Harvard Faculty of Medicine system with research in pre- or peri-natal medicine. Faculty at the Assistant Professor level or higher are excluded.
Submit

For the first time, we are accepting applications electronically. Please be sure to review the application instruction document very carefully.

  1. Print and collate the Application Face Page, Proposal Routing Form , and all required documents with necessary signatures
  2. Scan the application to PDF format. Review the PDF to ensure it is legible.
  3. E-mail the PDF document to hearstfund@hms.harvard.edu. In “Subject” line of the e-mail include the PI’s last name, first name, Hearst 2009. (Ex: Jones, Sharon, Hearst 2009).
  4. E-mail must be received (date stamped) by May 9, 2008 at 5pm. Any application received after that time/date will be rejected.

The income from the fund is to be used by a member or members of the faculty of Medicine to support research in the area of pre- and peri-natal medicine, with particular emphasis on those factors important for the prevention of neuromotor disabilities.

Among other uses, funds may be used to supplement support for ongoing research from other sources.
Preference are given to junior and/or new investigators.

All recipients of the Hearst funds must provide a brief summary of scientific accomplishment to the Dean and the Hearst Fund Committee at the end of the award year.
