Educational and professional experience:

I finished medical school in my native country Czechoslovakia in
1985 and after pediatric residency I worked as a pediatrician at the
University Hospital until Summer 1989. Our family immigrated to the USA where I repeated a pediatric residency at Tufts–New England Medical Center in Boston. I continued my education and finished my fellowship in pediatric critical care at Yale New Haven Hospital, Connecticut. During my fellowship, I took graduate courses in medical ethics at Brown University/Philosophy Department. I have practiced pediatric critical care since 1996 at Tufts-NEMC in Boston until the end of 2003 when I joined the pediatric palliative care team at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Children’s Hospital, Boston. I have been enchanted by palliative medicine ever since.
