Current teaching and research interests

Ms. Dahlin has been involved with hospice and palliative care throughout her career. She began in hospice, but was intrigued by patients who did not choose hospice. She moved to palliative care to work with non-cancer diagnoses. She has been involved in national projects to create quality palliative care and build the field. Through the National Consensus Project, Ms. Dahlin was involved in creating national guidelines for palliative care. With the Circle of Life Committee, she is part of a program to seek out innovative programs that provide palliative care. Through the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, she is involved in various projects to promote nursing education and practice. One main interest has been creating the advanced practice palliative care nurse role and creating a foundation for palliative care. Additionally, Connie has been involved in creating the scope and standards for advanced practice and baccalaureate nursing, competencies for nursing at advanced level as well as standards for advanced practice nurse fellowships and creating understanding around advanced practice nurse reimbursement.
