Current teaching and research interests:

My charge at MGH is to develop and expand educational programs for medical students, residents, and non-hospice and palliative medicine fellows in all aspects of palliative care.  This includes developing rotations on our busy inpatient consultation service and in our outpatient clinics; working with colleagues at Dana-Farber to create an intensive interdisciplinary elective in palliative medicine for 4th year medical students; and to work to increase palliative care teaching in the Harvard Medical School curriculum in general.  In addition, I am a member of the AAHPM HPM Fellowship Competencies Workgroup which has defined fellowship competencies and measurable outcomes, and created a toolkit of evaluation tools in accordance with ACGME guidelines.
