Regardless of the type of review, protocols (new and continuing) and protocol changes take approximately eight weeks to process, from receipt of the application through approval. Please bear this in-mind when submitting an application.

If your application must also be reviewed by another committee, such as the Office of Educational Development's Medical Education Research Review Group, either prior to or post IRB approval, please add at least another two weeks to your anticipated approval time.

Many applications take longer to process due to incomplete information - please be sure to answer each question on the application, and include all requested study documents, as this will streamline the process considerably.
