Special Features

  • Over 20% of the first year class is composed of underrepresented minorities (approximately 50% women).
  • Excellent volunteer opportunities in minority neighborhood health clinics and community outreach projects.
  • Varied opportunities to work in research laboratories and international programs.
  • Students are assigned to one of five societies (Cannon, Castle, Holmes, Peabody, Health Sciences and Technology). The societies serve as the framework for each student's experience in General Medical Education.
  • The Office of Recruitment and Multicultural Affairs sponsors an eight to ten-week Pre-Matriculation Summer Program (PMSP) for accepted Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) students interested in academic medicine and/or research. Students receive stipends, room and board allowances.
  • The Office of Recruitment and Multicultural Affairs sponsors a monthly meeting of
    The Harold Amos Biomedical Research Society.
