INCOME GIFTS - ESTATE GIFTS - RETIREMENT GIFTS - PERSONAL PROPERTY- REAL ESTATE

You can make a gift to Harvard Medical School through your will or a codicil to your will. This is called a bequest. You can bequeath a specific amount of money, a percentage of your estate, or specific property. A bequest enables you to make a legacy gift to Harvard Medical School, while retaining full control of your assets throughout your life, and can reduce estate taxes.

Harvard Medical School's continued independence and leadership will depend on gifts and bequests from alumni and friends now and in the future. In fact, a testamentary gift is still the most realistic way for many donors to make a significant contribution to the Medical School.

Bequest Language

The following example is a suggestion and can be tailored to best suit your needs.

"I give (all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate) or (_______ dollars) to the President and Fellows of Harvard College, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for the benefit of Harvard Medical School (to be used for its general use and purposes) or (to be used [state the purpose.])

If you do choose to establish a provision for the Medical School in your estate plans, we would appreciate it if you notified our office of the provision and provided us with a copy of the relevant portion of the executed estate planning documents for our records. Please be assured that these documents will be kept confidential.
