In 1772, Dr. Ezekiel Hersey made a bequest of 1000 pounds which soon led to the establishment of Harvard Medical School. Through his single generous act of giving, he helped found a medical school which would one day become world-renown for its physicians, researchers, and medical leaders. He left a truly remarkable legacy. In so doing, Dr. Hersey not only became the Medical School's first benefactor, he also became its first "planned" giver.
Alumni and friends who make a bequest provision or other life income gift to HMS are invited to join the Ezekiel Hersey Council. Members receive an inviation to an annual spring luncheon at the Medical School, information on current research, recognition in the Council's honor roll, and invitations to other School-wide events.
If you have made a bequest provision to Harvard Medical School, please contact us at 617-384-8449 or toll free at 800-922-1782 so that we may add your name on the Council honor roll and include you in future Ezekiel Hersey Council events.
