Residency Match Destinations of MD-PhD Grads
The MD-PhD Class of 2008 represents 25 trainees, including 3
who joined the program during the clinical years as PhD-MD students
from MIT. All but one chose to pursue residency training.
Of these 24 graduates starting residency programs, 13 (54%) will
go to Harvard teaching hospitals (5 to Brigham and Women's; 3
to Beth Israel Deaconess; 3 to Children’s; 1 to Mass General;
1 to Mass Eye & Ear Infirmary). Other hospital destinations
include: 5 to Stanford; 2 to UCSF; 2 to U Pittsburgh; 1 to University
of South California; 1 to Duke University Med Ctr.
Residency choices include 6 in medicine; 4 in pathology; 3 in
pediatrics; 2 in neurology; 2 in radiation oncology; 2 in dermatology;
and 1 each in anesthesiology, ophthalmology, radiology, orthopedic
surgery, and urology. The graduate who chose not to pursue
clinical training has accepted positions in industry.
