Prepare secondary application sent to you by Harvard Medical School by November 1, 2008.

 x

 x

All applicants must submit the secondary application and supporting documents by November 1 deadline.

On the secondary application, select appropriate categories for curriculum choices at Harvard Medical School: New Pathway and/or HST AND MD-PhD Program.

 x

 x

Students may apply to New Pathway only, HST only, OR to both programs.

On the Harvard Medical School secondary application you will be asked to complete a few short questions that are pertinent to MD-PhD applicants only.

 x

 x

These questions concern the graduate programs of interest to you; your research interests and the names of your research supervisors who will submit letters of recommendation on your behalf.

At the time of application to Harvard Medical School, a separate application to graduate school is not made by students applying to the basic sciences track; however, students applying in the social sciences track are required to submit a separate, concurrent application to a graduate program.

It is important to note that applicants who are interested in applied sciences, such as biomedical engineering, need to consult with programs to determine appropriate year to submit a formal application.

 x

The social sciences track requires that all MD-PhD applicants complete a graduate school application according to the instructions and timelines of the Harvard Graduate School.

MD-PhD applicants are expected to have letters of recommendation from research mentors.

 x

 x

All letters of recommendation should be sent directly to the Office of Admissions, Harvard Medical School, 25 Shattuck Street, Boston, MA 02115.  There is no need to send copies to the MD-PhD Program office.

 x

 x

Only the social sciences track applicants will need to submit a separate set of recommendation letters to the graduate school of choice.  The medical and graduate school applications are completely separate for the social sciences.

Applicants are invited for interviews to take place in December-February for both MD and MD-PhD Programs.

 x

 x

Basic science applicants will be invited to Boston on designated interview days; social science applicants will be invited separately.

Committee decisions are reached in early March and offers of admissions are conveyed in mid-March.
