At the time of application to Harvard
Medical School, a separate application to graduate school is not
made by students applying to the basic sciences track; however,
students applying in the social sciences track are required to submit
a separate, concurrent application to a graduate program.
It is important to note that applicants who are interested
in applied sciences, such as biomedical engineering, need to
consult with programs to determine appropriate year to submit
a formal application. |

The social sciences track requires that
all MD-PhD applicants complete a graduate school application according
to the instructions and timelines of the Harvard Graduate School. |
MD-PhD applicants are expected to have
letters of recommendation from research mentors. |
