Overview:

Provides resources in immunofluorecence, electron microscopy, confocal, and deconvolution microscopy of living and fixed cells and tissues, and offers expertise in imaging polarized cells in monolayer culture

There are 3 locations for Core B: Children's Hospital Boston (CHB), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and the Immune Disease Institute (IDI; formerly the CBR Institute for Biomedical Research).

Services:

The Imaging Core makes available to the research community modern motorized microscopes capable of multiple modes of imaging of both live and fixed biological samples. In particular, our optical microscopes can perform phase and DIC imaging, widefield fluorescence, ratio imaging, laser scanning and spinning-disk confocal microscopy, dual-color total internal reflection microscopy, 5-D fluorescence imaging, FRAP, photoconversion and FRET imaging.

  • 4 Reichert Ultracut E ultramicrotomes
  • 2 Nikon E800 microscopes one with   Bio-Rad MRC1024 confocal laser scanner
  • Nikon TE2000 inverted microscope for  DIC, phase and fluorescence microscopy interfaced to a spinning disc confocal
  • Zeiss Axiovert 200M for DIC, phase, fluorescence and Apotome-based confocal microscopy
  • Zeiss Axiovert 200M for phase, fluorescence and TIRF microscopy
  • Zeiss Axiovert 200M for phase, fluorescence and spinning-disk confocal microscopy
  • Zeiss Axiophot photomicroscope
  • Zeiss LSM510 upright confocal microscope
  • Zeiss Axiovision upright microscope for DIC, phase, and fluorescence microscopy
