Governance
The academic affairs of the Faculty of Medicine are governed by the following committees:

Faculty Council
This is an elected body composed of representatives of the junior and senior faculty from prescribed districts that encompass all academic departments in all institutions. Members serve three-year (staggered) terms and meet monthly to represent and guide the Faculty in the formulation of policy for the Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine, as well as to assist and advise the Dean. Each meeting is chaired by the Dean. Agendas for meetings are prepared by a Docket Committee composed of a subcommittee of the Faculty Council and chaired by the elected Vice-Chairperson. Summaries of the proceedings of each meeting appear in the Focus newsletter, which is written and distributed by the HMS Office of Public Affairs.

Conference of Department Heads
This committee is convened by the Dean to discuss and advise on matters central to the mission of the academic departments.

Faculty Meeting
All members of the voting faculty (Assistant Professor and higher) are invited to convene to consider issues of medical education, awarding of degrees in the Medical and Dental Schools, and other issues of concern to the academic community.
