Faculty Affairs at Harvard Medical

Invitational Faculty Fellowships/Grants

Each year over 50 Postdoctoral and Faculty Fellowships/Grants are available to the Harvard Medical Community by invitation only. The annual announcement/compendium of these funding opportunities (the "RED BOOK") is mailed out in early February and can be reviewed in the following offices:

In addition, the current announcement (including eligibility requirements and application information) may also be found on line at http://medapps.med.harvard.edu/fellowships/.

The annual internal nomination process for these invitational awards is open to all eligible HMS faculty, including those at all HMS-affiliated institutions. Please note that candidates must be nominated by their Department/Division Heads. The application process involves submission of an internal HMS application which is reviewed in the late spring by a Faculty Standing Committee. This committee matches applicants with particular fellowships to try to optimize the number of successful applications. (For some awards, other Faculties of the University are also eligible. These candidates are processed through their appropriate administrative offices, for example, at FAS or HSPH.) No guarantee of funding is made at the HMS or University level. Rather, final selections are made by the awarding institutions.
