The
program in Urban Health, directed by Dr. Patricia Case, is grounded in
the core disciplines of medical anthropology and social epidemiology.
The program supports multidisciplinary research located at the intersection
of policy and practice. The program stimulates the development of new
methodologies for measuring social and cultural dimensions of urban health.
Special focus is given to experiences of marginalized and "hidden"
populations such as drug users, women who have sex with women, and men
who have sex with men. The program strives to foster collaborations among
researchers and activists in many fields from within Harvard and the larger
community.
