Bicycling
Bicycling is an inexpensive, flexible and fun way to get around town. It is the preferred mode of transport of the Program Director, Associate Director, and several other prominent members of the Neurobiology Department. While traditionally not considered a bicycle-friendly town, Boston has made improvements recently: Mayor Menino discovered the joys of bicycling and has named Nicole Freedman as the city's first "Bike Czar". Brookline and Cambridge have been more aggressive in adding bicycle lanes and bike-friendly signage reminding drivers to share the road, and HMS has installed a number of very nice sheltered, secure bike cages. To gain access to these cages, you must register your bike with Harvard.
