Applying and Interviewing

The online application is accessed via Harvard Integrated Life Sciences. We recommend that you complete your application well in advance of the deadline to avoid uplink problems.

Applications require scores from the Graduate Record Examination (General Test), letters of recommendation, and official transcripts. The online application includes a $105 processing fee which must be paid by credit card. Applicants whose native language is not English, and who have not received a bachelor's degree from an English language institution, must meet minimum score requirements on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Our Institution Code is 3451. GRE tests should be taken no later than October.

Although the deadline for submission of applications to  the Program in Neuroscience is December 1, 2015, we strongly encourage you to submit your applications as early as possible.

Applicants should be aware the admission is competitive and that class size is limited.  We encourage applicants to consider applying to several graduate programs at other universities in addition to the Program in Neuroscience.

Before beginning, please read Important Information on the Application Process.

Applicants who are invited for interviews are notified late December. Interviews generally occur in late January as part of a series of activities beginning on a Thursday evening and ending the following Sunday. Travel and hotel expenses for this visit are covered by the Program. Students who are unable to attend the interview weekend should inquire about other arrangements. Students living abroad may be interviewed via teleconference.

The Program in Neuroscience does not maintain a waiting list, and does not conduct interviews after January.

Applicants who have not received an invitation to interview by January 1 should expect to receive a letter from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, regretfully informing them that they have not been accepted.  These letters are generally sent in March.
