Support Services

Both the Cambridge campus of Harvard and the Medical School campus offer a variety of on-campus resources and support services for members of the Harvard community. Detailed information about many of them can be found in the Smooth Transitions Minority Student Handbook.

Examples of such resources and services are: the Medical Area on and off Campus Housing Information, the Real Estate Housing Office, the Bureau of Study Counsel, the Writing Center, the Office of Career Services, the University Health Services Consumer Advocate, and the Medical School Ombudsperson.

Harvard University states that it is contrary to its policy, in violation of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Resolution on Rights and Responsiblities, and unlawful, to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age, national or ethnic origin, political beliefs, veterans, status, or disability unrelated to job or course of study requirement. All forms of discrimination and harassment are condemned, and there are in place formal procedures and policies for resolving grievances. Members of the Du Bois Society are also available to informally discuss grievance circumstances and possible courses of action with members of the under-represented student community.
