Students, statisticians, developers and engineers took part in the third annual NBA Hackathon, which featured two tracks, basketball analytics and business analytics. Teams accepted to the Hackathon built tools to solve important and challenging problems in the NBA. Their work was presented to a panel of expert judges and an audience of NBA personnel, media, invited guests and the other competitors. Surge and Amaro’s project was focused on using deep neural networks to capture quantitative spatio-temporal features in NBA player tracking data (x,y coordinates).
