OPENINGS AT GENSTRUCT http://genstruct.com/AUcareers.php (Posted on 07/29/09)
Genstruct is a young, energetic, program-driven systems biology company with 25 employees. Teams of biologists and technologists use innovative and intelligent technology every day to tackle seemingly impossible scientific problems.
As part of the Genstruct team, you will find leading-edge tools as well as some of the world's best people. You will work with world-class scientists focusing on diseases such as oncology, metabolic disorders and inflammation. You will also find equally compelling technologists focused on systems biology, network modeling, statistical methods, artificial intelligence, user interfaces and text mining to advance a wide array of tools for better scientific investigation.
The company continually strives to create an environment that is not only engaging, fast-paced and extremely exciting, but one which allows each individual to learn, grow and reach their maximal potential.

Scientist
Responsibilities
As a Scientist, you will provide broad scientific support in biology. You will help develop project plans based on the project strategy, and function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team which executes compact, scientifically challenging projects.
Projects typically start with experimental data sets and client defined scientific problems. Using the scientific data, knowledge, proprietary technology and methods available, you will develop hypotheses for mechanisms, biomarkers, and targets based on the analysis of experimental data in the context of current scientific knowledge. As projects progress, you will draw on your scientific background as you interrogate scientific literature for relevant biological facts in order to create qualitative, causal models in support of your projects. You will frequently use newly developed software tools and analytic methods as Genstruct's technology and methodology continues to evolve.
As projects may involve almost any aspect of drug development and any disease area, scientists will be constantly challenged to learn new areas of biology. Your scientific writing and critical review skills will be essential to the production of concise, detailed project reports and presentations, which represent a coherent synthesis of the biology of the experimental system.
