Other Educational Activities

Within our curriculum, there are several courses, which include a Resident-as-Teacher Course aimed at providing models for best teaching practices; an Art of Observation Course held in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts, where residents participate in observing fine art pieces to strengthen their visual observation and communication skills; and a course on Professionalism, Ethics, and Patient Safety that uses an interactive case-based approach to teach self-awareness related to these topics.

Meetings and Electives

Each year residents attend the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.  Four times each year, the residents attend Saturday conferences hosted by the New England Dermatological Society. These sessions are hosted by Harvard Medical School, Boston University, Tufts University, Brown University, Yale University and Dartmouth Medical School. Residents are eligible to attend the Annual Resident Retreat for Academic Physicians, sponsored by the Society for Investigative Dermatology.

Residents may partake in additional educational meetings on an ad hoc basis and in accordance with the program's meeting policy.

The Program faculty has always taken a special interest in developing academic dermatologists and, in particular, in encouraging trainees to undertake careers which include clinical or laboratory research. Elective opportunities exist for residents to explore clinical and research areas of interest.
