Current
teaching and research interests:
Research Interests:
My research focus is on physician-parent communication. A project currently
underway is looking at understanding of prognosis among parents of children
with caner, and factors associated with enhanced communication. I'm also
working to explore quality of care at the end of life in children with
cancer and quality care in children with poor health status.
Teaching Interests: Along with many other PCEP faculty members,
I enjoy teaching Harvard medical students in a course called "Living
with life-threatening illness," a course I took myself as a first
year medical student. I'm also working to educate pediatric residents
and oncology fellows and staff about symptom management at the end of
life. A personal interest is spiritual care of patients and understanding
the process of forming meaning in the illness experiences, and I am working
to incorporate these interests into educational and research efforts.
