Current teaching and research interests:

As part of a very community-oriented organization, I am currently focused on bringing palliative care to patients wherever it's needed. This involves educational efforts directed to the lay public as well as my colleagues in healthcare. Our consult service delivers palliative care consults in patients' homes, nursing homes, and at least five acute care facilities up on the North Shore. I spend most of my time at North Shore Medical Center, another Partners' Healthcare Hospital and affiliate of MGH. My teaching is focused on helping my new colleagues understand what Palliative Care is all about, including and most hopefully, the internal medicine residents at NSMC. With our adoption of a new electronic medical record system and the opening of a free standing 12 bed in-patient Hospice House this past year, I am looking forward to the opportunity to focus on a number of clinical research opportunities.
