Project Steering Committee, 2001-present Current teaching and research interests:Currently I am the senior nurse practitioner on the service and co-direct the outpatient service. I have developed the inpatient hospice program at MGH. I have several areas of interest: consistency of evidenced-based, innovative palliative care and the collaborative interdisciplinary process, particularly as it relates to nursing. To that end, I serve on the Steering Committee of the National Consensus Project for Palliative care that developed Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care in 2004. I am currently the editor on a series of articles on the domains and the related preferred practices as adopted by the National Quality Forum. I serve on the American Hospital Association Circle of Life Award Committee. I am on the national faculty for End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) basic, oncology, graduate, and critical care versions. I helped develop the critical care version. I am senior mentor for our HRSA grant “RN Residency in Geriatrics and Palliative Care.” Previously, I served on the board of the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association for 8 years, culminating in serving as president. I also served on the board of the Massachusetts Federation of Hospice and Palliative Care. I served as the nurse educator for our Robert Wood Johnson “Merging Critical Care and Palliative Care Cultures” grant.
