Current teaching and research interests:

My teaching focuses almost exclusively on end-of-life care and primarily involves supervising palliative care fellows. I also teach a session with fourth-year medical students who are rotating through their internal medicine sub-internship, and students and residents who rotate through their elective on palliative care. This teaching is directed towards basic use of opioids for pain and dyspnea, basic symptom management, and an introduction to some more advanced doctor-patient communication skills. My research has been focused on the idea of demoralization in end-of-life patients and the relationship between demoralization and grief.
