I am interested in the role of neuropeptides in modulating aggression in fruit flies. In collaboration with Dr. Yun Wang and Dr. Lingjun Li at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we are using liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (MS) to identify and sequence expressed neuropeptides in the adult fly central nervous system. I am also developing MS-based methods to identify neuropeptides that are expressed within populations of aminergic neurons.

My other interests include experimental baked goods, experimental cello playing, a sisyphean quest for the perfect brownie recipe, and floating in the ocean, with or without a surfboard.
