Description:

The program was established to support the teaching and research careers of talented young faculty in the chemical sciences and to provide discretionary funding to faculty at early stages in their careers. The program is intended to encourage young scholars who embrace and demonstrate excellence in the academic research and teaching missions. The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program is focused primarily on individual research attainment and promise, but evidence of excellence in teaching is also expected.

Duration: One time grant Amount:

$75,000 ($7,500 of this amount allocated to the Teacher-Scholar’s department for associated departmental expenses.)

Funds normally expended over five years. Not to be used to defray academic year salary .

Eligibility
Requirements:
PhD, MD/PhD

Applicants must:
  1. Hold a full-time tenure track academic appointment at an institution that grants degrees in chemical sciences, and are normally expected to have been appointed no earlier than mid-year 2004.
  2. Field- Chemistry and Chemistry-related fields

Note: Harvard University is the nominating institution for these awards. (Only institutions that grant a bachelor's or higher degree in the chemical sciences, inlcuding materials chemistry, chemical engineering or biochemistry may submit nominations.) The HMS Foundation Funds Committee will select HMS’ nominees and forward their applications to the Provost’s Office. Likewise applications from HSPH and FAS (and others) will be submitted. A Committee appointed by the Provost’s Office will review all applications and select the University’s nominees.
